Road Steel Presents a Paper on Vehicle Restraint Systems at SIIP 2025


Road networks around the world include a large number of bridges, which must be considered especially important points within road safety due to the environment in which they are located.

In this context, the installation of Highway Guardrails, Bridge Parapets, Aesthetic Urban Parapets or Pedestrian Parapets, among other Vehicle Restraint Systems, is essential to ensure safety in these spaces. At Road Steel, we have more than 50 years of experience in the design, manufacture and implementation of Vehicle Restraint System solutions for roads, supported by a strong R&D team, making us a benchmark in the road safety sector.

For this reason, on October 23 and 24 we participated in the International Bridge Engineering Symposium (SIIP 2025), held in Colombia, one of the most important events for professionals specialized in bridge engineering, where we were represented by our engineer Juan David Montoya Gallego.

The presentation attracted the attention of structural and geotechnical design specialists, contractors and concessionaires attending the event by showcasing our ability to adapt to current trends and our expertise in the Road Safety Sector.

The presentation, entitled “Regulatory Changes, Selection Criteria and Implementation of Vehicle Restraint Systems for Bridges”, highlighted the key aspects to consider when implementing Vehicle Restraint Systems on roads, presented updates to current regulations and explored the strategic technical criteria for the implementation of parapets as Vehicle Restraint Systems for bridges.

Attending this event allowed us to share our R&D and Engineering capabilities, exchange technical knowledge with all attendees and strengthen our position as a company specialized in bridge parapets, steel safety barriers and high-performance Vehicle Restraint Systems.
